Lawson, Hendrix Selected to First Team All-Region
Once again, the tandem of Hannah Lawson and Abby Hendrix are bringing in post season accolades for their amazing performance this season. Both Hendrix and Lawson were selected to the First Team All-Northwest Region. Hendrix was second in the Region in total Assists for the year while Lawson had the second most kills in the Region. Congratulations!!!
TRYOUTS 2009
Tryouts for the 2009 Volleyball Teams will start on Monday, August 3rd at 9:00 AM in the Main Gym at Albemarle High School. All candidates need to have a completed physical before they can participate. All Physicals must be completed after May 1, 2009 in order to be valid. Also, participants need to bring in a completed Insurance and Training Rules Forms. All of these forms can be found at the Albemarle Athletics Website. Just click the links below and they will take you to the appropriate pages.
Varsity Tryouts will run from 9:00-12:00 the week of August 3rd. JV Tryouts will run at the same time, but may be extended past the first week. If you are selected for one of the teams, practices will start immediately after tryouts are completed. Practices are usually 5 days a week, so please plan to have your vacations completed before tryouts.
Attending volleyball camps are great methods for getting in better position to make the teams. We look forward to seeing you at tryouts!

Lawson Sets Career High with 28 Kills versus Colonial
Hannah Lawson has done it again. In a hard fought, 5 set victory over Colonial Forge on 10/13, Lawson recorded 28 kills to set a new personal record. In addition, Lawson moved into second place on the single-match Albemarle kills record, only 4 behind Jessica Evers. For her efforts, Lawson is also tied for 9th in the Virginia High School Record Books in this category.
Hendrix Sets New School Record for ASsists.
Abby Hendrix set the School Record for Career Assists against Colonial Forge on Tuesday, 10/13 by recording 45 Assists. She surpasses the old record held by current Assistant Coach, Courtney Wood. She also moved into 8th place in the VHSL Record Books with her performance.

Meg Carpenter, senior Setter/Hitter, was named as the Homecoming Queen for 2009. Her teammates and coaches have always known what an amazing lady of character and friendliness she is. It is wonderful for her to be recognized by the student body for this honor. Congratulations Meg! We are proud of you!
